Every month, or so, The Avenue Journal will host a writing contest. The theme will be detailed. Prizes will be a monetary award, plus publication in the annual journal. See below for details.

Spring Contest

The inaugural award will be given to a short story written on the theme of “spring”.

  • Entries should be no more than 1500 words

  • Contest will close on May 1st

  • $3 entry fee, waivers provided upon request (this is how we stay afloat, and I use that term loosely!)

  • $50 prize

  • Winner will be included in annual print publication of The Avenue Journal

  • Fiction or non-fiction pieces are welcome (we won’t know the difference, just make it appealing to read)

  • Winner will be announced by June 1st
